Developmental Heroes
"The Water Man Of Rajsthan" was the title gained by Rajinder Singh for his efforts on water conservation in Rajsthan.Rajsthan is state which is continuously struggling on scarcity of water.But Rajinder Singh left his government job and jumped in the development sector and formed his NGO named Tarun Bharat Sangh .TBS worked on two different fronts. Firstly they fought with the corrupt bureaucracy and secondly with the Village people to make best use of available water. Rajinder singh make close contact with the people at ground level and motivated them to work for water conservation.It was his brainchild to form Aravari Parliament of 72 villages which formed the rules for cropping patterns and use of water. And then miraculously ,The Aravari river got revived.Later on this parliament was awarded by the then President k.R Naraynnan .In 2001 he was selected for Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leader ship.It was coincidence that while his name was announced for this reputed award he was struggling with Government of Rajsthan presently he was involved in Yamuna Bachao Andolan which was initiated in protest of Khel Gaon which was built in the Yamuna River.

Deep joshi is a famous name in development sector.This 53 year old miraculous man has give reasons to smile almost one lac families.The man was born in Uttranchal while he choose to work in the most remote ares of our country.The former student of MIT who begin his professional carrier with Ford Foundation as a program officer.But he was very clear that he would something for the underprivileged segment of the society.So in 1983 he co-founded his organization,Professional Assistance for Development Action (PRADAN).PRADAN is such a dynamic that you can see professional working there almost from all the academics .These professional work in most remote states of India. Presently PRADAN was working in the seven sates.They have developed strategy to touch the north-eastern sates of India.Self-help group.natural-resource management,forest management and micro enterprises are the major thrust areas of Pradan.The orgaizatin is working with almost 1,80.000 families.In 2009.Mr. Deep Joshi received Ramon Magsasay award for his effort.thenin 2010 he was given Padma shree award.He si a real visionary and a karamyogi has the guts to convert his vision into reality.
